Getting the Essentials Right

Essentials First

Before any refinement, the essentials have to be right: the name, the address, the number, the hours. These are the foundation, and when they are wrong, nothing built on top of them fully compensates.

It is tempting to move on to more interesting improvements, but a polished profile with a wrong phone number fails at the one thing a listing must do, which is connect a customer to the business.

The Foundation Multiplies Effort

When the essentials are solid, every other effort works better. Good reviews, a clear description, a strong presence all rest on the assumption that the basic facts are correct.

Getting the essentials right is therefore the highest-value thing a business can do first, because it is what lets all the other work actually reach the customer it was meant for.
